# Privacy — o-licence

> What this site collects, what it deliberately does not publish, and what happens to a message you send.

## Privacy

Short version: no analytics, no cookies, no tracking — and the names in the source register stay off every page.

### What this site does not publish

The DVSA file names, on every row, the **transport manager** and
the **directors or partners** of the operator, as natural persons.
This site removes both while reading the file for its pages: they are on no
page, in no search index, in no API and in no dataset we sell.

The same applies to the operating centre address. The file gives a full
street address; the pages here keep only the postcode area — the one or two
letters at the front. No page carries a street or a full postcode.

This matters because of what republishing would create. A register that is
only downloadable as eight bulk files does not let anyone look up which
haulage businesses a named person directs. A searchable, indexed site would.

### The one exception: the dated licence check

The [dated licence check](/report.md) is a report on **one
licence**, prepared on request for a business vetting that operator — a
shipper, a freight forwarder, a contractor. It reproduces what the DVSA
publishes for that licence, **including the names of the transport
manager and of the directors or partners, and the operating centre
addresses**, and crosses them with Companies House and the Environment
Agency register of waste carriers.

- **Source**: the DVSA operator licence records, Companies House
and the Environment Agency, all public registers.
- **Purpose and lawful basis**: checking an operator before
working with it, a legitimate interest of the requester (UK GDPR article
6(1)(f)). The register publishes these names precisely so that operators can be
checked. The requester states the purpose when ordering.
- **Who receives it**: only the person who ordered that report.
Nothing is published.
- **How long**: we keep a copy of a report for 12 months, then
delete it.
- **Your rights**: if you are named in the register, you can ask
what we hold about you, ask for a correction, or object to your name appearing
in these reports, at [the contact address](/contact.md). A correction
of the register itself is made by the DVSA.

### What your browser sends

No analytics, no advertising, no cookies, no third-party scripts. The site
is static files.

**Your search never reaches a server.** The query lives in the
part of the address after the `#`, which browsers do not transmit.
The lookup is done in your browser against static index files. We cannot see
what you searched for, because it is not sent.

The hosting provider, Cloudflare Pages, records ordinary server logs — IP
address, time, the file requested — as any host does. We do not have access to
a per-visitor analytics view and do not run one.

### If you send us a message

Three forms on this site collect an e-mail address: a request to move
something, a request for bulk access or a dataset, and an order for a dated
licence check. All are handled by

Formspree , which forwards them to our mailbox.

What we do with what you send:

- **Report orders** — we prepare the report, send it with a payment
link, and keep the order and the report for 12 months.
- **Bulk access and dataset enquiries** — we reply, and we keep
the exchange while the enquiry is live and for as long as we have a business
relationship.
- **Haulage requirements** — we reply, and **we pass the
requirement on to licensed operators** so they can respond to you. That
is the point of the form and it is what happens to your message. We do not sell
lists, and we do not pass anything on if you tell us not to.

Ask us to delete what you have sent and we will, at
[the contact address](/contact.md). If you would rather not use a
form, write to us there directly.
